Swords Sunday

"Arrakis teaches the attitude of the knife — chopping off what's incomplete and saying: "Now it's complete because it's ended here."
Frank Herbert ~Dune
Terminal Space & Human Space Empires, both of these wonderful games have swords. I'm not a fan of the movie ultra viol but I do love swords ever since reading Edgar Rice Burroughs. One idea that I have in my games is that swords like the one above will have a bit of the personal history of the wielder engraved on them. That is within the blade itself a person's psyche impression creates a bit of history, sayings, etc on the blade of the weapon itself.
Some weapons become living works of art that are passed from master to student over the long years, these generational blades contain incredible stores of wisdom & knowledge. Other swords are drenched in the blood, violence, & chaos that has carried them through the long years of space. Some seek these blades out &  store them safely away in the vaults upon lonely planets. Not for long
There are some alien weapons masters who create blades of strange materials & very unusual designs. Some of  these blades were never meant for human hands. They cut reason or logic. Some cut through the thoughts of others leaving the body untouched but the victim a drooling idiot.
There are blades that are the cages of  planar demons & even gods. These weapons are world wreckers capable of destroying entire societies & planets. These weapons are often within the hands of masters & the reckless
In an age where flexfield  are the norm the sword is still a very dangerous piece of  weaponry & shall remain so.
