The Vault - Wednesday Actual Play II





 Within The Depths of Hyper Space Part II
The party's penetration one of the various "important" rooms was expected. They searched the rest of the room & found a hidden safe behind a tapestry in the room & looked into the contents.

  • A few bars of "precious" metal that was worth lots a few centuries ago but had devalued since the invention of a fusion process created more of the semi precious fuel metal 
  •  A strange key like object with 2 glowing  crystals at the end.
  • A few strange figures done in gold that had red velvet like string tied around each one very detailed. Each figure of an unknown alien species. 
  • More charts & maps some detailing those family atomics 
  • A letter from the knight's brother detailing a grave family insult & his declaration of Kanly – "Formal feud or vendetta under the rules of the Great Convention ....
  • A few emergency funds in various alien currencies 
It was just then that they found the lever hidden in the darkness at the top of the safe. A quick turn, a dexterity roll, & they didn't fall down the set of stairs that led to a hidden chamber below deck. The lights of the room lit up to the incredible clear glass steal vault 


The vault room was empty except for 2 vacuum freeze dried corpses in gas masks & gear with a still operational atomic wielding torch set by the door of the vault. 
Around the room were various vents set into the floor. Above them was a series of fire sprinkler style pipes. Each pipe was freezing to the touch. 
   The vault had a table, a chair, a few stacks of precious metals, & a working sleep pod with the door open & the lights blinking green. There was also an open book on the table.  


The party was very careful around the corpses expecting them to animate (They didn't). They made a careful series of calculations about the sizes of the various rooms & such. Then where the pipes terminated in what room above. They broke into the correct room only to confront the ghostly mistress of the knight whom the ship belonged to.

They got questioned by the lady in waiting why they were in her mistresses chambers & what was the problem. The lady looked like the above & was more then capable of throwing the party out. The part kept the charisma rolls coming & talking about leaky pipes. They were able to call one of their robotic drones to cap the pipe. The mistress of the room complained about the toilet being stuck & they confronted the first of a series of spocery monsters. They ended up cleaning up the mess that the slain monster made after they dispatched in the bathroom. The fun part was cleaning up the carbon burns on the tile work. 
 Finally they broke into the vault after spot wielding each & every vent. There were some very angry growls behind those vents.  
I didn't get a chance to trot out the blue elemental smoke monster. There's always next time. The vault was finally broken into after the entire party a). They checked every single inch of the vault door & b). Stationed a guard in the knight's office. The party entered the vault. 
Meanwhile I had more imps show up in the office. They were of the smarter variety & I tormented the lone guard just as the door was going to shut. They raced to their guard's add just as one of the stupid imps chewed through an atmosphere hose & gave them the finger. 
The resulting pressure change caused a moment's mayhem as they furious rolled skills to block the hole with stuff from the room until a spot wield could be done. The sacrifice of one imp almost did in the party. 
They final broke into the vault & investigated the odd vault.  Just as the door shut & the lights went out.
